Located at Rua do Vale de Santo António 115, 1170-378 Lisboa, Portugal, this quaint diner provides a perfect setting for both locals and tourists looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're craving traditional Portuguese dishes or something with a modern twist, A. Costa delivers a delightful dining experience you won’t soon forget.

Upon entering, the warm, inviting decor sets the tone for an evening filled with great food and even better company. The restaurant has a laid-back, neighborhood vibe, making it feel like a home away from home. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy your meal without the rush that often comes with city dining. The service is attentive but never intrusive, and the staff genuinely seems to care about making your experience special.

One of the highlights at A. Costa is its menu, which is a celebration of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. From the very first bite, it's clear that the restaurant takes pride in its offerings. The menu features a variety of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. The traditional Portuguese dishes are executed perfectly, with a range of grilled fish, hearty stews, and rich, flavorful soups. A standout is the bacalhau à brás, a comforting dish made with salted cod, eggs, and crispy potatoes, seasoned just right. It's a true reflection of Portuguese culinary tradition.

For those with a craving for something more contemporary, the diner also offers modern twists on classic favorites. The innovative approaches to traditional recipes are not only exciting but also make each dish a memorable experience. The octopus salad, for example, is a refreshing take on a classic, with tender octopus paired with zesty citrus, creating a burst of flavors that dance on your palate.

But what truly sets A. Costa apart is its attention to detail. Each dish is carefully plated, with an emphasis on visual appeal as well as taste. This level of dedication shows that the restaurant doesn't just want to feed you-it wants to provide an experience. The flavors are balanced, the presentation is elegant, and every element of the meal feels like it has been thoughtfully curated.

If you're someone who loves a good dessert, you won’t be disappointed. The pastry selection at A. Costa is delectable, with the pastéis de nata standing out as a must-try. These flaky, custard-filled treats are the perfect end to a meal, and they're made fresh every day. Paired with a cup of coffee, it’s an unbeatable combination.

What’s more, A. Costa excels in creating an atmosphere that is perfect for both intimate dinners and casual get-togethers. The space is small enough to feel cozy but spacious enough for larger groups, making it a versatile choice for any occasion. Whether you're enjoying a quiet meal for two or celebrating with friends and family, the ambiance adds to the overall dining experience.

  • It was tasty, octopus was super nice and soft I just wish they used fresh garlic instead of the pre chopped bottled one preserved in vinegar. Chicken tasty too.

  • We arrived late after 2 hours exhausted in airport. The restaurant was closed but the owner and chef mama’s very kind to specially cook for us. So warm for our first meal in Lisbon and a fantastic experience for a local dinner :)

  • First we have to start with fundamental: 1. location… right next to my rental 2. Service… the gentleman servicing us was not only charming to my wife and kid but knowledgeable and very and great server. 3. food and brevages: most importantly their house wine (both red and white) is the most delicious Beira Interior that you could put on your palette. Next, their Bife de la Casa is very recommendable…. So when in Lisboa do as the Lisboans do and eat local…

  • It was a bit unexpected to taste such high quality grilled chicken at this restaurant that was cooked above charcoal. The chicken was succulent, delicious and tendered that was served with fresh salad. The cook and the waiter were so friendly. The dinner was very good valued. We ordered the takeaway grilled chicken one day and the whole grilled chicken costs 8 euros.

  • Family run restaurant, the waitress is a lovely grandma, even though she doesn’t speak a word of English, we still managed everything. Good was good (highly recommend the grilled Octopus) and they have a special dessert called Pudim de Requeijão com Caramelo de Café. Please make sure you try it
